What is Kyokushin Karate?

Kyokushin Karate is a traditional Japanese martial art created by the legendary Karate Master Mas Oyama. After studying and mastering various martial arts, he was dissatisfied with their rigid ‘single approach’ methods. So he set out to create a system that trained the student to their strengths and not to that of the teacher’s strengths, a system that was practical, NOT based on aesthetics! In the end he ended up with Kyokushin which translates to: “The Way of the Ultimate Truth”. After Mas Oyama completed his new system he attempted to introduce it to the rest of Japan, where it was not well received as many saw him as a renegade of the Martial Arts. Before long however, it became known throughout Japan as "The strongest Karate".

This results in a keener focus. They learn to make eye contact with their teacher (and not just in Martial Arts). They pay greater attention to what each teacher says. They know and accept where they stand.
